Hi! Thanks for visiting. Make yourself at home, look around... but my new digs are way swankier. Check it out here: Makeup Detox.

In early 2012 I heard about the FDA report on lead in lipstick... what?! This totally freaked me out. I then began to do some research on cosmetics and safety. What I found was concerning to say the least. Here I was, a health-oriented gal and yet it never dawned on me to question the safety of what I was slathering on my skin, my hair and my lips. I assumed, like many people do, if it's on the shelves, it must be safe, right? Sigh. Unfortunately there is little regulation of cosmetics and beauty products in the U.S. and Canada. For example, there are over 1000 ingredients banned for use in Europe, yet only about 11 in the U.S. It's alarming.

And yet we have a wonderful opportunity to become savvy consumers and empower ourselves to make smart choices. Makeup is supposed to be about having fun, pampering ourselves and self-expression. It becomes so much more enriching when the products we use are nourishing. Plus, we get to support small companies who are shunning the 'easy way out' and taking the time and care to make high-quality products that are safe.

I've detoxed my entire beauty product and cosmetics routine and I'd like to help you do the same. It's a little overwhelming at first, but it's totally do-able and so worth it. I'm passionate about making this transition affordable so that everyone can participate.

So... what are you waiting for? Check it out!

Be good, stay fabulous,
